WARNING! Living Trust Tricks Targeting our Seniors.

The company that sent the post card eluded that they were 'approved' by AARP and made the claim "The Choice is Yours : Sacrifice Your Assets to the state or look after your mates. " Granny failed to think to call me, or any one else in the family. She believed this post card was expecting her response, and so she called and set an appointment for the organization's representative to go to her at home. This representative made 'common ground' nearly immediately with my grandmother. Grandmother was instantly put at ease at the friendly, self described 'Christian' who claimed to share identical family values as grandmama. ' This company is selling Living Trusts to older gullible elders, charging $800 to guarantee that their estate will not go thru probate, guarantee the last wishes published in the Will are carried out correctly and claimed this Living Trust will save 'thousands of dollars'. They don't seem to be there to serve the elder's best interests. A Living Trus! t isn't a 'one-size-fits-all'. In reality, there are sorts of Trusts available with logical and helpful applications not every senior is wanting such a legal document. I checked the Better Business Bureau and found no grouses. The message typically announces that you want to "update" or "validate" your account info. The message directs you to a domain that looks precisely like a bonafide organization's site, but it is not. Don't presume you know how Medicare and Medicaid works.
